HAWKS STUMBLE AT NAVY INVITATIONAL
ANNAPOLIS, MD (04/08/01) - After beginning
the spring season with some early success, the
SJU golf team stumbled to a 14th place finish at
the Navy Spring Invitational. Freshman Brian
McDermott was the team's top performer for the
second straight week, placing in a tie for 31st
overall.
McDermott charged out of the gate, shooting a
73 on day one, but came back with an 82 on
the final day of competition and finished with a
two round total of 155.
Supporting McDermott were freshman Paul Polinsky (83, 80 - 163),
sophomore Jeff Huntzinger (79, 80 - 159) and junior C.J. O'Connell (83,
78 - 161). Sophomore Mike Bosica shot an 82 during the opening day,
but was disqualified on day two.
Georgetown topped the 14 team field by shooting 593, seven strokes
better than Princeton.
Next up for the Hawks is the La Salle/Holy Family Inviational on
Monday.
