SJU GOES FOR A-10 CROWNS IN GOLF, MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK THIS WEEKEND
PHILADELPHIA (4/28/04) - Saint Joseph's will contend for Atlantic 10 Conference Championships in three sports this weekend as SJU continues its quest for its best-ever finish in the A-10 Commissioner's Cup Standings. The three championships being held this weekend are men's golf and men's and women's track and field.
The 26th annual A-10 Men's Golf Championship will take place this weekend, Apr. 30-May 2, at the Newport National Golf Club in Middletown, RI. The Championship tees off on Friday, Apr. 30. SJU's Billy Stewart returns looking to defend his individual title. Last year, Stewart became just the second freshman to win Atlantic 10 medalist honors. Tee times on Friday begin at 8:00am. First tee on Saturday and Sunday are also 8:00am.
The eighth annual Atlantic 10 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 1-2 at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, VA.
The first day of the Championship will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, May 1 with the women's heptathlon. On Sunday, May 2, the men's decathlon begins the second day of competition at 8:45am. The schedule of events can be found on the Atlantic 10 web site (www.atlantic10.org/sports/otrack/champs.asp).
