HAWK HARRIERS FINISH EIGHTH AT PAUL SHORT

BETHLEHEM, PA (09/28/02) - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team was led by their three freshman standouts on Saturday to an eighth place finish at the Paul Short Invitational held on the campus of Lehigh University. Freshman Andre Laboy continued his impressive rookie campaign by leading the Hawks with a 25:25.9 (34th overall) time on the 8K course. Classmate Mike DiDio (25:32.2) was nearly seven seonds behind on his way to a 41st place finish. Rich Anderson, a redshirt freshman, was third for SJU, running a 25:33.6 to place 44th. Rounding out the top five for the Crimson and Gray were sophomore Collin Martin (25:38.0, 50th) and senior Geoff Fahey (25:53.8, 70th.) Also placing in the top seven for Saint Joseph's were senior captain Tim Fisher (25:56.7, 73rd) and freshman Joe Mohn (26:21.4, 93rd.) William and Mary took home the team title with a score of 49. Columbia's Steve Sundell was the individual champion with a time of 24:28.2. The Hawks next compete at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitation in South Bend on Friday, October 4.
