HAWKS WRAP UP SEASON WITH NINTH PLACE FINISH AT IC4A/ECAC
BRONX, NY (11/24/02) -- The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team wrapped up their 2002 season with a ninth place showing out of 17 teams at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday in the Bronx. Freshmen
BRONX, NY (11/24/02) -- The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team wrapped up their 2002 season with a ninth place showing out of 17 teams at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday in the Bronx. Freshmen Andre Laboy and Joe Mohn led the way for SJU, finishing 16th and 18th, respectively, at Van Cortlandt Park.
Laboy, the A-10's Rookie of the Year, finished the 8K course in a time of 25:47.1, while Mohn was right on his heels at 25:49.2
Senior captain Tim Fisher ran well in his final cross country race of his career, as he finished 51st overall in a time of 26:25.1. Freshman Mike DiDio was fourth for the Hawks in a time of 26:48.0 (76th overall).
Rounding out the top seven for Saint Joseph's were senior Matt Lewis (88th, 27:00.6), junior Rich Cullin (96th, 27:08.2) and junior Greg Rosetti (103rd, 27:15.6).
Cornell won the team race with a score of 81 points, followed by William and Mary and Yale. Syracuse's John Bitok was the individual champion in the field of 148 runners with a time of 25:05.8.
The Hawks conclude their cross country season with a 6-0 dual meet record and a second place finish in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The indoor track season begins December 7 at the Lafayette Invitational.
