HAWK HARRIERS OPEN 2003 SEASON WITH WIN AT URSINUS
COLLEGEVILLE, PA (08/30/03) -- Saint Joseph's opened its 2003 season by placing three runners in the top five in winning the six-team Ursinus Invitational on Saturday morning. Freshmen Teddy Myers started his career off by placing third after traversing the 6k course in 20:51.
Another rookie, Ryan Bennett, finished ten seconds behind Myers and placed fourth. Sophomore David Masse (21:09) finished fifth, junior Brad Schmidt (22:11) finished 11th, and freshman Chris Kessler (22:23) rounded out the SJU top five with a 15th place finish.
Freshman Shawn Duffy (22:28, 17th) and sophomore Kyle Laudadio (23:35, 23rd) rounded out the Hawk top 7. SJU won the event with 23 points, follwed by La Salle (54), Haverford (61), Lebanon Valley (137), Ursinus (148), and Franklin and Marshall (151).
