LABOY PACES HAWKS AT NOTRE DAME INVITATIONAL
SOUTH BEND, IND (10/03/03) -- Sophomore Andre Laboy had a seventh place finish to lead the Saint Joseph's men's cross country team to an 11th place finish at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational on a cold Friday afternoon in South Bend, Ind. The event annually features the top cross country teams in the nation and this year was no exception.
Laboy made a statement in the team's first event since the Fordham Invitational on Sept. 13. The Danbury, Conn. product finished the race with a time of 24:44, good for seventh in the field of 188.
Classmate Mike DiDio was the next Hawk to cross the finish line with a 40th place showing (25:30). He was followed by junior Collin Martin (73rd, 25:49) and freshman Teddy Meyers (75th, 25:50). Senior Rob Hewitt rounded out the Hawks top five with a 110th place finish.
Sophomore Dave Masse (116th, 26:19) and senior Rich Cullin (134th, 26:40) finished in the SJU top seven.
Notre Dame won the event with 76 points, followed by Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Duke, and Penn State. Eastern Michigan's Gavin Thompson captured the individual title with a time of 24:06.
