LABOY NEARLY WINS PENN STATE NATIONAL INVITATIONAL
STATE COLLEGE, PA (10/18/03) -- Saint Joseph's sophomore harrier Andre Laboy missed winning the Penn State National Invitational on Saturday by six seconds as the Hawks finished sixth out of 20 teams on Saturday. Laboy covered the hill and dale in 25:36.35 behind PSU's Dan Mazzocco (2:29.69).
After Laboy's second place showing, freshman Teddy Meyers crossed the line in 27:03.69, good for 37th place. Sophomore Joe Mohn was right on his heels with a time of 27:12.04 (39th).
Sophomore Dave Masse continued to make his push into the Hawk top five with a 43rd place showing overall (27:16.17). Senior Rich Cullin rounded out the Hawk top five with his 50th place finish (27:30.51).
Junior Collin Martin (27:50.26, 65th) and sophomore Rich Anderson (27:55.12, 70th) placed sixth and seventh for SJU, respectively.
Colorado State won the event with 36 points, followed by the Speed River TFC (78), West Virginia TC (84), Penn State (103), St. Francis (125) and SJU (169).
