LABOY RACES TO NOVACARE ATHLETE OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER

PHILADELPHIA (12/03/03)- For the second straight year, sophomore Andre Laboy dominated the month of November and earns the SJU NovaCare Athlete of the Month for the second time in his young career. During the month, Laboy won the Atlantic 10 Individual Championship, was named to the academic all-conference team, finished fourth at the NCAA District II Championship, and competed in the NCAA Championship.

Laboy started the month on the right foot by winning the conference championship, becoming the fifth Hawk to cross the finish line first. His performance towered above the rest of the field, as he covered the hill and dale in 24:46.7, 25.9 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Following that performance, Laboy finished fourth at the NCAA District II Championships, qualifying him for the national meet. He was just nine seconds off the pace set by Penn State's Dan Mazzocco.

The next week in Waterloo, Iowa, Laboy became the first Hawk since Karl Savage in 2000 to compete at the national level. The sophomore didn't disappoint, placing 76th overall in a field of 254 runners.

Laboy joins freshmen Nicole Antonini (field hockey, September) and Megan Schutt (women's soccer, October) as the previous Hawk Athletes of the Month.
