GEORGETOWN HALTS HAWKS WINNING STREAK, 2-1

WASHINGTON, DC (09/21/01) - Georgetown put an end to Saint Joseph's four game winning streak with a 2-1 victory in the Nation's Capitol. The Hoyas evened their record at 2-2 on the season, while SJU dropped to 4-2 overall. Junior Brett Dymarczyk tallied the lone goal for the Hawks.

After a relatively evenly played first half, momentum swung in favor of the Hoyas when GU scored with just five seconds to go before intermission. Sophomore Beth Gagnon fired a shot past St. Joe's goalkeeper Lauren Bradley to put the Hoyas up 1-0 and snap a string of 220 scoreless minutes by the SJU netminder.

Sophomore midfielder Leeanne Rizzo put Georgetown up 2-0 early in the second half. Rizzo converted a missed shot by senior Aubrey Bruggemanto tap in a goal at 31:50.

The Hawks finally got on the board late in the second half when Brett Dymarczyk scored a goal at 13:20.

The Hoyas outshot SJU, taking a total of 15 shots, while the Hawks managed only five. Bradley finished with 12 saves in the losing effort.

The Hawks return to the field on Sunday, when SJU plays host to Rutgers at noon
