WOMEN'S V8 AND FROSH 8 WIN GOLD AT FROSTBITE
PHILADELPHIA (11/08/03) - The Hawks put the cap on the 2003 Season with impressive rows at the Frostbite Regatta over the weekend. The Women's Varsity 8 posted the fastest time of the day in the 2000 meter race. Rowing a different line up to allow a number of younger athletes the opportunity to race, SJU took control at the start and led by open water through the finish over Buffalo,
Colgate, Georgetown, Temple and LaSalle.
The Freshman 8 had another strong performance, also taking the lead right from the outset. The crew then displayed great poise and confidence, battling through rough water to hold off five boats which included a pair of teams that were Dad Vail finalists last year.
The Freshman 4 and 2nd Varsity 8 also
had good races both finishing third in tightly contested events.
