ST. BONNIES DOWNS SJU, 2-0
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (10/27/00) - When
the St, Joseph's Hawks look back on the 2000
season, if they want to, they will see a year of
tough losses. And St. Bonaventure is just
another to add to the list.
The Bonnies, 5-10-3 overall, 3-5-1 in Atlantic 10
Conference play, broke open a scoreless tie at
intermission with a goal in the 50th minute and
added an insurance tally in the 20 minutes later
to capture a 2-0 win over the visiting Hawks.
The first SBU goal was by junior defender Alyson Reising. She took a
pass from junior Kristin Konstanty and fired it into the right corner for her
first collegiate career.
Senior Kelli Bennett then sent an indirect kick into the box and found
senior Jen Twardzik for the insurance goal. Twardzik took the ball out of
midair and rocketed a shot into the right corner of the net. The goal was
her seventh of the season.
St. Bonaventure outshot the Hawks 17-6 for the game. Goalkeepers
Karen Cunningham and Breanne Kraly combined for the Bonnies' third
shutout of the year. St. Joseph's Christy Ganc made five saves in the
loss.
The Hawks, which end the season at Duquesne on Sunday, fell to 4-12
overall and 1-8 in A-10 play.
