FORDHAM TOPS SJU, 1-0

BRONX, NY(11/2/01) - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team continued to play hard, but also continued to struggle finding the net, falling on the road to Atlantic 10 Conference rival Fordham, 1-0. The Hawks dropped their sixth match in the last seven outings, and fifth by shutout to fall to 5-9-2 overall, 2-6-2 in Atlantic 10 play. The game was scoreless at half as Saint Joseph's outshot Fordham by a 6-5 margin, but the Rams would score the only goal of the game at the 69:03 mark as Fordham's Jackie Aines took a pass from Emily Parella and one touched the ball past a defender and took a shot from 17 yards out to score her fourth goal of the season. Fordham goalkeeper Shannon Misiaszek made seven saves in the game for her seventh shutout of the season, which stands as a new record for shutouts in a season by a Fordham goalkeeper. SJU goalkeeper Christy Ganc had three saves in the contest. The Hawks close out the season at La Salle on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
