HAWKS END SEASON WITH 2-0 LOSS AT LA SALLE

PHILADELPHIA (11/4/01) - Saint Joseph's closed out its 2001 women's soccer season with a 2-0 loss at La Salle on Sunday afternoon. The Explorers dominated play during the day in handing SJU its third straight defeat, and seventh shutout loss in its last nine matches. La Salle, which outshot SJU 18-3 on the afternoon, did not score its first goal until the 50th minute as junior defender Tricia Gauss touched the ball past SJU keeper Christy Ganc. Junior Amy Schneider tallied the second goal, driving one from 20 yards out past SJU's Alicia Kornicki in the 60th minute. The Hawks switched keepers as Ganc's suffered a mild concussion in a collision earlier in the contest. Sophomore Michelle Ford also suffered an injury to her and had to leave the game. La Salle's Kaitlin Glass recorded her 17th shutout, but did not make a save as the Hawk offense failed to muster a shot on goal. Ganc stopped five shots for the Hawks while Kornicki had one save. SJU finishes at 5-10-2, 2-7-2, in A-10 play. La Salle, which is heading to the A-10 Tournament, is now 10-8, and 8-3 in the A-10.
