WOMEN'S SOCCER TO EMBARK ON 10-DAY TOUR OF NORWAY
PHILADELPHIA (08/08/03) - The Saint Joseph's University women's soccer team will depart on Wednesday, August 13 for a ten day tour of Norway. The trip marks the first ever foreign excursion for the Hawk soccer team. SJU returns to campus on August 24 to prepare for the season opener at Delaware on August 29.
"We have the extra advantage of going to Norway and playing five games there," third year head coach Jess Reynolds said. "Since we have such a young team, we're going to need lots of games to get ready for Delaware. It's a great advantage to have."
The Hawks organized the trip through former SJU standout and assistant coach, Ellen Stenrud. SJU will play five games overseas against club competition, including a matchup against Stenrud's squad.
Daily or near-daily player diaries will be available on sjuhawks.com, so check back to keep updated on the Hawks in Norway. NCAA Division I member institutions are permitted to participate in a foreign tour once every four years.
